CM announces ex-gratia, orders enquiry into Wak incident

nabam-tukiITANAGAR, May 20: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has expressed shock and grief over the demise of four persons, all female, due to electrocution near Wak village in West Siang district.


While extending condolences to the bereaved family members of the four ladies, who were working in their paddy fields when the accident occurred, the Chief Minister announced ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh each.


Immediately on getting the information from the district administration Tuki ordered a detailed enquiry to find out whether the tragedy occurred due to negligence of any person and if anybody is found guilty, prompt action be initiated.


The Chief Minister also asked the Chief Secretary to obtain a detailed report from the West Siang deputy commissioner on the incident.


He cautioned officials and workers engaged in maintenance and construction of high voltage power lines to maintain extreme caution and keep the safety of common people as top most priority.
