Govt. releases salary of DRDA employees

nabam tukijITANAGAR, May 18: The State Government has released three month's salary of the DRDA employees. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has approved the release of Rs. 718.86 lakhs for the last three months salary from January to March, 2015 after a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Commissioner and Director of Rural Development Department at the former's office chamber here today.

The undue delay in the payment of salaries of the DRDA employees was due to late and non-submission of full utilization certificates by few DRDAs to the central government and carrying forward the previous year's backlogs to the current year that forced central government to release the fund only in the fag end of the financial year (March), 2015, stated the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister also informed that State Government has extended 6th CPC benefit to the employees of the DRDAs shouldering more financial burden.

With regards to absorption of DRDA employees in the line departments, the Chief Minister said that, "As per DRDA guidelines the employees are to be drawn on deputation or on contractual basis, but the contractual appointees have been regularized". The Chief Minister, however, said that it will take some more time to streamline the issue with line departments.

The DRDA employees had recently observed 15 days pen and tool down strike in protest against non-fulfillment of its various demands. They also threatened to knock the High Court's door if government continues to show its adamant attitude.
