1st day in office, Tuki inks Lokayukta file

CMITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki started his first day of the second term in office with a bang – signing approval of the Lokayukta Act for the State this morning.

Thanking the people of Arunachal for reposing faith in his governance, a visibly happy Tuki accomplished his first commitment among several other promises made in the Congress’ poll manifesto. This step he said is a gift to the people of Arunachal Pradesh from a responsive government.
“My wish and desire is to provide clean, transparent and accountable government to the people of Arunachal Pradesh,” Tuki said after signing the Lokayukta Act file in presence of several newly elected Members of Legislative Assembly.
Lokayukta is a quasi-judicial body, which would act as a watchdog to pinpoint wrongdoings of the administration, look into complaints of the victims of corrupt elements and suggest measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the government.
The bill which was passed by the 5th Legislative Assembly in its Budget Session in the month of March last and assented by the Governor has become an Act after the newly elected CM signed it today.
