Chief Minister Calls For Preservation Of Tradition During Nyokum Festival

Nyokum-1-300x225Feb 26, Itanagar: Nyokum, the festival of bumper productivity, peace, prosperity and well-being of human kind was celebrated with full traditional fervour at Nyokum Lapang Ground, Itanagar. The 35th Nyokum Festival was attended by Chief Minister Nabum Tuki, MLA Kaling Moyong, MLA Karya Bagang, Political Secretary Bamang Tago, Chairman 35th Nyokum Celebartion Committee Tatar Kipa among others.

The festival began with the rituals associated with Nyokum and a mega cultural dance display. It also witnessed the release of Nyishi Audio Album AJIN-II by the Chief Minister Nabum Tuki.

Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, CM Tuki greeted the people of Arunachal Pradesh and the Nyishi Comminity especially for the festival and appealed all the tribes of Arunachal Pradesh to preserve the age old traditions and culture of one’s own tribe. While stressing on the need to preserve the local priest, Chief Minister said that the state government will look into special provisions for that and also ensured that the state government has urged the centre to provide a Regional Cultural Center at Itanagar for the Cultural growth so that all the tribes of Arunachal will come under one Umbrella. Tuki also declared to set up a permanent stage for the Nyokum Lapang Ground at Itanagar.

Speaking on the Occasion as a Guest of Honour, MLA Kaling Moyong urged the public of Arunachal Pradesh to preserve age old art, tradition and culture of their tribe for the future generation. He also appealed the parents to teach their children their native language to preserve the age old language of each tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. Later the MLA appealed the Committee to spread the message of love, peace, unity and brotherhood among all the tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.
